Newtown Parent Connection started as a grassroots organization so that parents could network with one another to discuss the drug issues we were facing in our town. We believe that knowledge is power, and by becoming better informed, we can begin to take the steps necessary to prevent or treat the problem. The mission of the Newtown Parent Connection is to educate and empower the community in the prevention of substance abuse and to embrace families in crisis. We work with individuals and families to build resiliency and strengthen the connection amongst family members. Strong families help create strong communities. We work in conjunction with town agencies, the schools, religious communities, and police departments, to enlighten our community in order to prevent the use of drugs and alcohol amongst our youth.
